From practice, in brief

What I am building and what I learn along the way. The posts appear on LinkedIn first (in German); these are the short versions.

  • From Zammad to an in-house ticket system in the intranet

For my employer I built an own ticket system and integrated it directly into the intranet. All existing tickets were migrated with their numbers and complete history, and the familiar e-mail route stays. Status, owner and priority are visible at any time, approvals happen inside the ticket, and the system adapts to new requirements because operation and data stay in-house.

  • “Can you unlock me quickly?” Five words heard in IT every day.

For a ten-second action someone signs in with the most powerful account in the company, and nowhere is it recorded who unlocked whom and when. So the internal IT platform now has a user management module: unlock, enable, reset passwords and maintain groups through a service account with exactly the rights it needs. Nobody can unlock themselves, privileged accounts are off limits, every action lands in the audit log.

  • Twelve low-code modules replaced by an own app. Here is why.

Low-code was the right start. The trouble came with the twelfth module: duplicate entry, ERP only via detours, licence costs per user and dependence on a vendor roadmap. The own app has its own backend, its own data and its own interfaces to the systems already in place. New processes are code now: versioned, testable, traceable. The real work was walking through every workflow with production and workshop before writing a single line.
